“Thank you for ordering from Bacteria Bar” sparked the idea for Emily and Kady Chok, a Chinese Canadian sister duo, to create Bacteria Bar. The brand emerged from Emily’s talent for design and Kady’s love of culinary experimentation, combined with their reliance on kombucha for daily probiotics and support for a healthy gut microbiome. They noticed a lack of diversity in flavours that reflected their cultural backgrounds and wanted to see themselves represented in the products they consumed. As a result, they created flavours like Yuzu, Winter Melon, Lychee, and Bayberry. Sustainability is a cornerstone of their business philosophy, which is why they use lightweight, recycled aluminum sourced from a local Alberta business. Bacteria Bar is more than just a kombucha brand; it serves as a beacon for young, female, minority-owned businesses, advocating for diversity and inclusivity in the marketplace.
